Prop 8 Pisses Me Off - But Focus on the Real Enemy - The Religious Right
Submitted by daveb on Sat, 11/08/2008 - 17:04.I just read an article that really changed my mind about blaming African-Americans for Prop 8.

In Light of California's Decision on Gay Marriage I Have a Simple Question:
Submitted by daveb on Wed, 05/21/2008 - 03:26.The question is for the people who oppose the ruling. What the hell is wrong with you people? Don't you have anything better to spend you time and money on? There are people in this country without healthcare and without food on their tables.
Romney is No JFK and Religion is NOT Freedom
Submitted by daveb on Thu, 12/06/2007 - 20:51.So I've read through Mitt Romney's religion speech. I'm outraged and if you aren't too then you need history and civics lessons. To insist that "freedom requires religion" is an outrage. Our nation was founded on the premise that we are all free and that as a people we come together as a nation. Not that some God from a bunch of ancient texts gave us freedom and this country. Our founders are rolling in their graves.
Stopping the Re-THUGlicans in 2008 - Vote Giuliani
Submitted by daveb on Tue, 10/23/2007 - 01:02.Well, it appears the Christian “right” doesn’t like America’s Mayor
Rudy Giuliani. No, it’s not because he’s just another utterly wrong
candidate like all the rest. It’s because he has the audacity to be
pro-choice and support gay rights. So let’s help him win the nomination!
Evangelicals are threatening to back a third-party candidate if Rudy
wins the nomination. Gee, that’d be really too bad. Some
hyper-religious fuck like Brownback or Huckabee would be more to their
liking I’m sure.
It's Not the Size of Your Stance - It's How You Use It
Submitted by daveb on Sun, 09/09/2007 - 23:49.Well, well, well. Yet another GOP politician was caught with his pants down - literally and figuratively. I wish I had the slightest bit of compassion for soon-to-be EX-Senator Craig but I don't.
The very same people who are condemning Larry Craig gave David Vitter a pass. They allowed Vitter to admit he had sex with prostitutes and then claim his God and his family forgave him. So it was over. Done - God said so, so don't ask any more questions.
Plame and Wilson - A Nefarious 2 for 1
Submitted by daveb on Sun, 07/08/2007 - 17:52.As I sit here being angry about Irving "Scooter" Lewis Libby's commutation by lil' Bushie it occurs to me that the whole sordid afair is actually much worse than originally thought.
The simple story is that the outing of Plame was just a method of discrediting Wilson's trip to Niger because she reccommended her husband for the job. This always rang hollow with me. Coming from the most courrupt, cronyistic administration since Tammany Hall a little nepotism hardly seems worth mentioning.
Brainless Bong Hits Decision
Submitted by daveb on Sat, 06/30/2007 - 23:28.The right-side of the Supreme Court decided against the First Amendment recently in the Morse v. Frederick [06-278] case. I'm not a lawyer of course, but I do still possess common sense - something the black-robed boys don't.
There are two parts to this decision I find unacceptable. First, the court found that the Olympic Torch run was a school-sanctioned and school-supervised event. Basically, the school let the students out to watch the runners carry the torch through town. That's now a school-sanctioned and supervised event. Seems a bit of a stretch to me.
From the Front Lines
Submitted by daveb on Tue, 06/05/2007 - 02:03.A friend of mine returned from Iraq recently. He spent only three weeks in the "Green" Zone on a specialized mission. No, he's not Special Forces so he wasn't there to take out al Sadr. He's just a solider who was injured and almost lost his eyesight in one eye.
